Despite being a popular hiking route, the hike from Lukla to the Base of Everest sitting at around 5,364 m (an elevation difference of more than 2,500 m) is no straight forward hike. In addition to the freezing temperatures, this is primarily due to the lack of oxygen your body has to cope with at such high altitudes.
